14th Day of Foren in Year 3209 of the Emerald Age

An accident occurred in the laboratory this afternoon. A novice transmuter believed the best object for practice to be an empty glass vial on one of our potion tables. Despite the meager strength of his incantation, it was enough for the glass neck to be Enlarged beyond the size of it's suspension prong. The resulting mess by itself would be tolerable; however a nearby Glassee oil experiment became tainted by the shards of glass. Upon dropping into the oil's mixing bowl a chain reaction began which neither myself nor any of my subordinates can explain. All glass items within a 5 foot radius were instantly shattered; each and every shard shaped identically. The oblong stones fell in a peculiar pattern in which all tips pointed towards the now bone dry oil bowl.

The lost materials will be expensive to replace; however, since a promising magical phenomenon has been stumbled upon, the novice responsible will only serve 3 days in solitary confinement.
